Leah is originally from Michigan, but moved to Charlotte in 2006 after graduating from Michigan State University. She earned a BFA in Art Education and landed her first teaching job in Charlotte. Leah has always had a passion for teaching, the arts, and fitness. She knew at an early age that she would become a teacher.
After teaching art from levels K-12, she gave birth to her two sons and decided to become a stay-at-home mom. Running and yoga helped her regain her strength and channel new mother obstacles by cultivating peace and a healthy lifestyle. She ran her first 10K after giving birth to her son. She loved the adrenaline rush of running across the Copper River Bridge! Since then she has completed multiple trail races, half marathons, and a full marathon. Yoga was the perfect counterbalance to running.
She decided to take Grounded Kids Yoga training in 2016 with the vision of spearheading a kids yoga club when she returned to the classroom. That weekend changed her life. She learned the incredible grounding benefits that yoga can offer to children. She went on to complete her 95 hour RYCS certification, and 20 hour RYS prenatal certification. Leah currently teaches Grounded Kids Yoga to YMCA families, homeschool students, camps, among other places in the community. She also teaches prenatal and Mommy and Me yoga classes. Leah believes it’s truly a gift to offer your children the practice of yoga, compassion, and mindfulness. “I’m so grateful to share my passion of teaching children and LOVE of yoga! Namaste, Namaste, Yay!”
